Georgie Hobday Vanity Project Week 8. Whilst I try and work out where my images are headed and what my general direction is I am still shooting the Vanity Project with Georgie. I am learning loads from it, and not just about photography, in fact hardly anything about that, but I reckon I am seeing a little better now by slowing it down. I am kinda indebted to her patience on this process.

I dont know of anyone in Brighton doing good straight up portrait/documentary and street stuff, but fortunately Harry Mitchell has moved to this tiny city. About the only person here that I can see who makes me interested in images that aren’t an obvious construct. Go peep the rest of his work….

Diesel Fall/Winter 09 Catalog - Lyle dropped this off for me. He stars in it plus it was shot by Nocito. I think it is worth hanging on to (for a few months).

Gang Up Magazine - Rumor has it that KALINA inspired this magazine into existence and if that is true I am truly flattered. The brainchild of DarkDaze and Co., Sally Reynolds showed me a copy and I bought it as soon as I got home. Really well done. Buy here.

KIDS STAY FREE (bottom left) - Alexander Martinez sent me his zine. It’s really good. Thank you!

Spring Break, the post card box set (aka TIME OF YOUR LIFE). I saw this on Stephen Schuster’s blog. I got the 98th box. A collaboration between Steven Brahms, Emiliano Granado and Stephen Schuster. Emiliano dropped it off. I made a new friend.

Idol Magazine - A guy named Devin sent me a bunch of back issues of this magazine. It is produced by students of Union College in Schenectady, NY. Good Job. Thank you!

this is no rumour, KALINA magazine completely motivated me to start the idea of Gang Up and then to propose it to 2 other photographers I really admired. I have got so disillusioned with art directors and some of the content of many mags but Noah K’s approach really changed the way i thought. Until then I had gone down the idea of a Blurb route, but this seemed a real step in the right direction. Taking ownership is the way…
